Scottish musician KT Tunstall rounded off a charity fundraiser for Action for Children Scotland held in Glasgow this week.

Businesses from across Scotland raised £166,000 during the annual fundraising event on Thursday.

The event 'Never Mind the Business' had businesses from Glasgow and across Scotland tested their knowledge in a music quiz, before a surprise music act from singer-songwriter KT Tunstall.

KT Tunstall surprised the 800 guests at the Hilton in Glasgow with her unannounced performance at the end of the event.

She said: “It was a pleasure to play at Action for Children’s ‘Never Mind the Business’ event and hear about the great work the charity is doing in Scotland.

"This is a brilliant event and the money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of all the young people Action for Children work with across the whole of the country.”

The music quiz has raised more than £2m over the past 17 years in support of the charity's work with vulnerable children and families across Scotland.

Scottish director of Action for Children Paul Carberry said: “Since 2003, this event has raised an incredible amount of money to support the work we do.

"In turn, this has had a life-changing effect on the children, young people and families we work with."

Action for Children Scotland has 87 services across Scotland and works with more than 20,000 children, young people, parents and carers each year.

Paul Carberry added: “We’re delighted that everyone’s efforts have raised £166k this year.

"That’s a remarkable achievement and wouldn’t be possible without the support of the event’s committee and the guests who attend each and every year.”
