A NEW rock venue has opened in Dudley with the hope of becoming the next JBs for a new generation of music lovers.

Dirty Rockers launched last month and has already won a cult following amongst rock fans.

The Dock Lane venue hosts established bands alongside up-and-coming local talent, with a DJ also on hand for clubbers.

Mac White, manager of the venue, said: "We just wanted to do something new. Dudley hasn't had a rock venue like this since JBs closed so we thought, let's go for it.

"We normally have to travel to Wolverhampton or Birmingham for live music, so we wanted to bring the music here to Dudley."

Mac, alongside owner Rachel Vann, are keen for the new venue to a be a nurturing ground for local talent, so will host open-mic nights on Thursdays in the near future.

Mac added: "We don't want to be a tribute venue."

Organisers also promise cheap drinks and a wide variety of rock music 'from Bowie to Slipknot'.

Dirty Rockers on Dock Lane is open Thursdays from 8pm till midnight and Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm till 3am.
