RUNNERS competed in the inaugural Berrow Blaze race organised by Worcestershire Trailblazers.

The undulating off-road, five-mile course included tough climbs and plenty of mud.

Seventeen Malvern Buzzards competed with five awarded prizes.

Adam Wilson won in 33 minutes 48 seconds while Simeon Foreman was first male 40 and over and fourth overall in 35.35.

Sarah Armstrong was first woman and ninth overall in 38.53 and Paola Sestito won the women's 40 and over category as third female in 44.43.

Julie Caseley claimed the women's 60 and over section in 50.35.

Buzzards' Matt Warne clocked 37.51 for sixth overall, Simon Bond 41.43, Lisa Dainty 48.24, Wesley Odgen 49.36, Peter Wilson 55.25, Lily Price 55.38, Chris Notley 55.38, Sophie Barnes 59.07, Jennie Bond 1.00.51, Clare Wood 1.06.05, Kate Dolphin 1.06.05 and Neil Shepherd 1.12.38.

Malvern Vegan Runners' Paul Millsom won the men’s 60 and over category and was 11th overall while club-mate Lesley Ashton finished second woman 60 and over.

First Malvern Jogger home in 12th place was Neil Warne in 40.28 which was 20 seconds ahead of club-mate Ben Toon.

Warwick Taylor did 47.38, Suzie Lane 49.40, new recruit Martin May 50.46 in his first race in the green vest, Barbara Gawlak 54.47, Steve Massey 1.04.55 and Lance Tombs 1.16.08.

Meanwhile, Joggers' Andrew Brown, Jamie Francis and Tim Winstanley competed in the Great South Run over 10 miles in Portsmouth, clocking 1.18.47, 1.23.10 and 1.55.29 respectively.

The Dirtrun Winter Warrior Series first round in Brockhampton was completed by Joggers' Gemma Pattinson Thomas in 1.55.17 and Cheryl Clarke Phillips in 1.55.18.
