WORCESTER Hockey Club women's firsts secured a second successive victory with a 3-1 win at Wolverhampton and Tettenhall.

The visitors started brightly in the Midlands League Feeder West clash, controlling play and spending a lot of time in the home half.

On a bouncy pitch Worcester tried to find a way through and they eventually took the lead with a reverse-stick hit from Tash Walker.

Wolverhampton applied pressure with keeper Jaime Lewis making saves to keep the 1-0 lead at half-time.

The hosts came back after the break but Worcester’s defence held firm under pressure and they went ahead 2-0 with a strike from Lucy Merrett.

Wolverhampton pulled one back before Merrett struck again just before full-time to seal the success for Worcester who entertain Bloxwich on Saturday.

The thirds drew 1-1 with rivals Stourport thanks to a goal from Georgie Ballard.

Worcester fourths also played Stourport but despite some good attacking play from a young side went down 1-0.

The men’s firsts had the proverbial game of two halves in a 4-1 Midlands League Division One defeat at high-flying Rugby and East Warwickshire.

Worcester started well but just like the previous week imploded in a 10-minute spell that saw the hosts go 3-0 up.

The second period brought a better performance as Matt Gardner pulled a goal back from a short corner and Rory Simons smashed a reverse-stick shot just over the bar.

Good defending and goalkeeping kept Worcester, who host Northampton Saints on Saturday, in touch until Rugby added a fourth to kill off any hopes of a comeback.

Worcester seconds started poorly and then rallied well but finally lost out 7-4 to Market Drayton firsts.

There were two goals each for Asher Johnson and Rob Goodman.

Worcester's third XI lost 3-0 at Newtown.

There was better news for the fourths who made it three straight wins by beating West Bromwich 4-1 at home with goals from Nat Garfield, Tom Lewis, Max Batchelor and Dylan O’Kane.

The fifths had a tough afternoon against a strong Stourport side and lost 10-0.

Worcester sixths drew 2-2 with Stourport with both goals from Andy Griffin while the sevenths lost 4-0 to Edgbaston

In the junior section, despite having just 11 in their squad Pippins thrashed Kings Heath Pickwick 19-0.

There were four goals each for Finn Goodman and Ryan Miles.

Theo Copson, Harry Miles and Will Redway-Thomas got three each with the latter bagging a second consecutive hat-trick.

Phoebe Webster and William Barnes also netted.

The Potters had a much tougher game and ended up with the only scoreless result of the week, drawing 0-0 against Stourport.
