WORCESTER City could be without one of their key men for Saturday’s FA Vase second-round tie against Dunkirk at the Victoria Ground (3pm).

Defender Joe Hawkins has started in 11 of Worcester’s past 12 games since his arrival from Cradley Town in late August.

But the centre-half was forced off in the first half of City’s Worcestershire FA Senior Cup defeat to Malvern Town on Monday.

Manager Ashley Vincent said Hawkins had “tweaked his hamstring” when stretching to block Matt Turner’s shot only for the ball to deflect off him and divert past keeper Gabriel Bajrami on 20 minutes.

“That was the most disappointing thing from Monday night,” Vincent said.

“We picked up a big injury as Joe has been a big player since coming in.

“We will have to see how that settles down and then see what happens.

“He was stretching to block a shot and tweaked his hamstring.

“We hope he is OK as he would be a big miss and was a big miss when he went off.

“That’s something that will have to be sorted out later on in the week but at the moment the disappointing thing is the performance.”
