THE takings from a Brierley Hill pub were stolen when two men robbed staff in a car as they left work.

Two women were targeted when they got into a car outside the New Wellington pub on Brettell Lane on Sunday, November 24.

Once the women were in the car, two men then opened the doors and grabbed a bag which contained the pub’s takings.

The robbery took place at around 8pm and left the women 'extremely upset and frightened', a statement from the pub bosses said.

Writing on Facebook, the bosses of New Wellington appealed for the public to help police with their investigation.

They wrote: "To all our customers and locals we are looking for your help. Last night at 8pm two of our female members of staff were violently mugged when leaving the pub.

"Two unknown males jumped into the rear of their car and demanded items from them. As you can imagine they are both extremely upset and frightened.

"Our question is to anyone local at this time happened to see a very dirty grey Passat estate leaving the pub in a hurry. If you saw anything we urge you to contact West Midlands police on 101 quoting log number 2433/241119. Police are collecting the CCTV footage we have in hope to see reg etc. Thank you."

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating a robbery outside The New Wellington pub on Brettell Lane in Brierley Hill at around 8pm on Sunday November 24.

"Two women got into a car, before two men opened the doors and took hold of a bag which contained the pub’s takings.
