AN ambulance responding to a 999 call ended up on its side after a crash with a car close to Merry Hill.

The ambulance was on blue lights with sirens when it was involved with a collision with a car at the junction of The Boulevard and Coppice Lane last night (Thursday, November 28).

Crew from the ambulance gave aid to the occupants of the car and another ambulance was sent to help.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “The two ambulance crew members, who were uninjured, were already out of the vehicle rendering aid to the two occupants in the car when colleagues arrived.

“The car driver, a man, was uninjured. The passenger, a woman, was given treatment on scene after suffering relatively minor injuries before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment.

“West Midlands Ambulance Service will be working with West Midlands Police to establish exactly what happened.”
