HUNDREDS of people turned out to enjoy homegrown talent at the Brierley Hill Christmas lights switch-on last weekend.

Performers from Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Youth section brought to life an extract from Cinderella, while Bromley Pensnett Primary School pupils charmed the crowds with a Christmas medley at the festive event on Friday, November 29.

Singer Jack Cattell, dancers from Aspire Dance academy and award-winning Black Country indie band Giant and the Georges, also took to the stage at the Moor Centre.

Mayor of Dudley, Councillor David Stanley, officially turned on the lights with Father Christmas to kick off the festive season in the town.

Councillor Stanley said: "It was so wonderful to see the people of Brierley Hill turning out on a chilly December evening for this event.

"We were entertained by local performers including Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Youth and Bromley Pensnett Primary School who have supported this event year after year. I hope that the festive atmosphere encourages people to visit and shop in Brierley Hill."

A Santa's grotto is now also open in the Market Hall.
