Watford’s first dementia-friendly carol concert was attended by people young and old.

People with dementia and their carers heard singing from Little Green Primary School choir, who performed a variety of festive tunes at the event on Thursday.

Watford FC legend Luther Blissett also attended the free event to show his support for the cause.

The event was hosted by Home Instead Senior Care, Watford Borough Council and Herts Musical Memories, a charity which runs therapeutic singing sessions to give people living with dementia a chance to reconnect to the past through music.

The concert marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Watford Dementia Friendly Partnership which aims to make the town more accessible to people with dementia and their carers. Other activities in this initiative include, dementia-friendly movies at Cineworld Watford, weekly wellbeing groups and activities across Watford & Three Rivers and a reminiscence programme for those who are interested in the history of Watford FC.
