MOTORISTS are in for a few more days of traffic tailbacks on Stourbridge ring road while works to replace street lighting continue.

There are currently traffic-jamming off-peak lane closures on the ring road while engineers from E.ON carry out the work which is expected to be ongoing until Monday (February 10).

A spokesperson for E.ON, which is carrying out the work on behalf of Dudley Council, said: "Lane closures and narrowing of lanes have been put in place daily between 9.30am-3pm.

"We hope to finish the work and remove the lane closures at the start of next week.

"It is unfortunate this work has caused delays but, and as agreed with the council prior to commencing the work, this is the only way we’ve been able to safely and efficiently complete this improvement to street lighting in the area.”

A spokesperson for Dudley Council said there would be no work taking place on Saturday (February 8) but there will be some off-peak works carried out in Worcester Street this Sunday (February 9).
