The half-term holiday is packed full of activities for children and adults alike.

Here are five suggestions for things to do around Bolton this week:

Wacky World Bolton

Wacky World, a touring inflatable park, will arrive at the University of Bolton Stadium on Tuesday, February 18.

The indoor park will feature a Total Wipeout-style obstacle course, an “unclimbable” ladder and lots of other inflatable attractions, including Extreme Hungry Hippos.

Perfect for energetic kids or adults, tickets can be booked at wackyworld.co.uk and cost £10.95 for a 90-minute session, with family and adult-only sessions still available in the evening.

East Lancashire Railway half-term events

The East Lancashire railway is running a variety of half-term events to suit the whole family.

Prehistoric Pandemonium will descend on Bury station on Thursday, February 20.

Join the team of experts on a steam train ride to Rawenstall and get up close to a variety of cute dinosaurs.

On Friday, it’s the turn of wizards and witches, as families are invited to join a steam-powered adventure with the help of magical characters.

Both days will provide a variety of themed activities and photograph opportunities, and tickets for both experiences cost £15 per adult and £10.50 for children.

Shirley Valentine performance

The Octagon Theatre is putting on a stage adaptation of the film Shirley Valentine, which features Mina Anwar in the title role.

The play tells the story of Shirley’s lust for freedom as she heads off for a sunny holiday in Greece.

The show will be held in the Bolton Library Theatre every day during the holidays and is suitable for ages 14+.

Tickets can be bought online on The Octagon’s website with prices starting at £14.

Gin Tasting

For adults keen to expand their knowledge of gin, the Tails and Ale pub in Horwich will host a tasting session of Friday, February 21.

The evening event costs £20 per person and includes five full measures of different gin flavours, including strawberry, spiced, and orange and aniseed.

Message the pub’s Facebook page to book a place on the event.

And if you fancy putting your knowledge to the test, Crux Emporium is putting on cocktail-making classes every Saturday from 4pm.

Tickets for the mixology sessions can be booked via the bar’s website.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar at The Hive

Activities based on the much-loved children’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar will come to The HIVE in Moss Bank Park next week.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar trail will run from 9.30am to 2pm every day during half-term in the park’s walled garden.

Tickets can be booked on the Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s website and children can pick up their activity pack, including a trail sheet, butterfly painting sheet and hot chocolate voucher, from the park café.

Activity packs cost £3 online or £3.50 on the day, and the event is aimed at children aged five and under.
