A SCHOOL has received a rating of “requires improvement” after an Ofsted inspection.

But St Barnabas CofE First and Middle School in Drakes Broughton, part of The Diocese of Worcester Multi Academy Trust is positive about the future.

Claire Davies, chief executive of the trust said: “We are very optimistic for the future of this delightful academy. The recent inspection highlighted the many strengths pupils benefit from and inspectors recognised the hard work and determination of both new and existing leaders as they continue to address the action points raised in the report.”

“Staff, Governors and the Trust are all committed to ensuring St. Barnabas CE First and Middle School continues on its rapid journey to become a great place for all pupils to learn and develop, both academically and in their social and emotional well-being.”

Schools have recently been through changes when Pershore High School expanded its age range to take on year seven pupils.

Mrs Davies said: “The re-organisation of the age ranges in the Pershore pyramid will ultimately allow parents more choice in their child’s journey through to High School and that is something to be celebrated. Our priority is to work even more closely with the other schools in the area to ensure whichever route a child takes to year 8, whether through the middle school system or through one of the new primaries straight to year 7 at Pershore High School, he / she will arrive having experienced a similar wealth of curriculum opportunities and high standards in teaching and learning.”

“St. Barnabas CE First and Middle is a very popular school and parents wishing to continue benefitting from the 3-tier middle school system will find a year 7 place available for their child here which will ensure they are well prepared for the next stage in their education.”
