BOSSES at a Stourbridge GP surgery have issued a top tip to help people ensure they are washing their hands for long enough to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Lion Health chiefs have published a list of songs with a 20-second chorus to sing while washing your hands.

Stourbridge News:

Their top picks are: Good As Hell by Lizzo, Africa by Toto, Fleetwood Mac's Landslide, Mr Brightside by The Killers, Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd and Beyoncé's Love on Top.

On the surgery's official Facebook page a spokesman said: "Just in case you're tired of Happy Birthday and fancy a change. Keep washing those hands."

The latest information on symptoms of coronovirus and travel hotspots which may have resulted in a high risk of exposure can be found online at nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/.

Anyone concerned they might have coronavirus, or anyone who has been to a country or area with a high risk of coronavirus in the last 14 days, or anyone who has been in close contact with someone with coronavirus is urged to call the NHS 111 number.

People are urged not to go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital but instead to call 111 for advice.

Health chiefs say coronavirus usually occurs through close contact with a person with novel coronavirus via cough and sneezes or hand contact; and people can also catch the virus by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.

Public Health England's advice to help prevent the spread of the virus is to always carry tissues and use them to catch a cough or sneeze. Bin the tissue, and wash hands with soap and water or use a sanitiser gel - especially after using public transport.

People advised to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands and to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
