PEOPLE who are self-isolating in Dudley have been urged to take extra care with the waste they put out for bin collection.

Bin collections are continuing as normal in the borough but council chiefs have called on people who are self-isolating to take caution when disposing of their waste.

For those self-isolating due to symptoms, personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths can be stored securely within disposable rubbish bags, the local authority has advised.

Council chiefs say these bags should be placed into a second bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste.

Where possible this should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin or communal area.

Any other household waste can be disposed of as normal.

Dudley Council has warned that recycling services may be disrupted during the current crisis, but moved to reassure residents that work is being carried out resume normal services as quickly as possible.
