A MAN has been charged and remanded in custody following an incident where an officer was assaulted, and damage was caused to a property and a car.
Officers were called to an address in Hastings Road, in Southend, around 12.15pm on Sunday May 3 following concerns for a man who had been reportedly making threats.
Cops attended and safely detained the male without injury. A Taser was discharged.
Darren Leigh, 30, of Hastings Road, Southend, was arrested.
He has now been charged with two counts of affray, three counts of criminal damage, one count of assaulting an emergency worker, and one count of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He has been remanded in custody for his own safety and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Wednesday May 6).
