THE OWNER of a Rowley Regis garden centre told to close its gates by trading standards is delighted as it is set to reopen tomorrow (Wednesday).

Jacqueline Williams, owner of Garden of Eden on Powke Lane, opposite Rowley Regis Crem had hit out at 'unfair' regulations which had forced her to take telephone orders only, but had seen other shops and large chains stay open selling plants and flowers.

But now she is finally looking forward to reopening her gates to the public tomorrow after being forced to close them around four weeks ago due to coronavirus restrictions.

The married mum-of-three said: "We were hopping around when we found out we could re-open.

"It will be so much easier and less stressful now.

"We will be maintaining social distancing with only four people allowed into the yard, on a two in two out basis.

"Trading Standards called me and said we could reopen tomorrow."

Sandwell Council's Trading Standards came and told the 56-year-old to close her premises to drop-in customers on Thursday April 16, after complaints.

The garden centre, which sells plants, fresh flowers and pots as well as seasoned logs and coal, is open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am till 4pm on Sundays.
