PROPOSALS to extend a hand car wash in Oldbury have been submitted to planners.

Ansar Mahmood, of Warley Car Clinic on Causeway Green Road, wants to put an additional car wash on a vacant part of land within the car clinic site, which already has a hand car wash.

It will extend the existing car wash and provide two new valeting bays with proposals expected to create three or four new full-time jobs if given the go-ahead.

A former taxi rank office, which was on the site, has been demolished.

A design and access statement to Sandwell Council notes: "This application proposes the use of the existing site as new car wash and valeting bays in support of the existing hand car wash on Causeway Green Road.

"The new structure will include a canopy with three enveloping walls to minimise the sound transmission associated with the car wash and valeting of the cars.

"There is ample parking provision on the site, accessed from Causeway Green Road, as well as additional parking at the existing car wash."

It goes on: "Currently the 140sqm plot remains vacant, with former taxi rank office building previously demolished and the site cleared.

It adds: "The site already has a large hand car wash on Causeway Green Road, which our client would like to provide supporting services for a bespoke car wash and valeting service.

"The proposal converts the vacant site into a bespoke car wash and valeting facility, and thus making use of the cleared site.

"The proposal will maintain the existing access and parking off Causeway Green Road beside the hand car wash.

"The facility will contain two bays of suitable size to accommodate cars and vans."

Notes to planners state the car wash would have a roof canopy and three walls acoustically sealed to provide noise reduction.

There would be floor drains with silt traps installed within both bays with water run off to be discharged into foul water drain only, subject to consent from Severn Trent / South Staffordshire Water.

The car wash would be open from 8am till 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am till 1pm on Saturdays and will be closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
