JUST under 6,000 children have returned to schools in Warrington before the summer holidays.
After just a few weeks of welcoming back selected year groups, the end of the summer term is in sight.
On June 15, many schools across the borough reopened their doors to pupils in early years, reception, year one and year six, as well as carrying on provision for children of key workers and those who are vulnerable.
Years 10 and 12 have also been getting some one-to-one support.
The number of children in school during the first week of reopening was 3,319, across 82 school settings which responded to the local authority daily survey.
Three weeks later, this figure has increased to 6,000.
All pupils are expected to return to schools in September and attendance will be mandatory.
