POLICE have released an image of a man they want to trace after a crate of beer was thrown at a shop worker as they tried to stop goods being stolen from a Wordsley convenience store.

The incident happened at One Stop, Swan Lane, on Monday July 20 at about 4.35pm.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said a crate of beer was thrown at a shop assistant who challenged a man as he tried to leave the store without paying for washing detergent and coffee.

The shop assistant was luckily not injured in the drama.
