A man armed with a baseball bat who smashed a house window after his girlfriend walked out with their pet parrot received a ten months suspended jail term.
Kaya Colakoglu, 28, of Water Street, Rhyl, must do 120 hours unpaid work, attend alcohol treatment and a building better relationships course, and pay £163 compensation for the damage. He admitted possessing an offensive weapon, affray, criminal damage and two assaults.
Judge Huw Rees at Mold crown court said his relationship with Lena Nixon had been generally good. But Colakoglu had grabbed her hair and hit her in March, causing a black eye.
Then, on June 10, there was another bust-up and Miss Nixon went to a friend’s house. The judge said Colakoglu went to the house, after drinking heavily, armed with the bat. Leah Wright was hit on the chin by a shard of glass.
Judge Rees added to the defendant :”You were in a highly emotional state, fuelled by heavy drinking.”
