A CONCERNED Worcester mum has warned parents about a children’s toy that she says makes ‘sex noises.’

The Hasbro Trolls Doll has been recalled after a video of the toy making gasping and giggling sounds when a button between its legs is pushed went viral.

Linda Solway, a mother from Worcester, saw the video and wanted parents to be aware of the issue.

She said: "I have an 11-year-old daughter and the message this doll sends out to children is very dangerous.

“They will see touching their privates or allowing others to as ok. Parents must be made aware of this as we all have a duty to protect the messages our children are receiving.

“Big brand names should not put profit before protection.”

Jessica McManis also saw the video and started an online Change.org petition calling for the toy to be taken out of stores for 'condoning paedophilia'.

Writing on the petition page, which has attracted over half a million signatures, Jessica said: “Our society is conditioning our children to think paedophilia is ok. This Trolls World Tour doll named Poppy has a button on her private area under her skirt.

“When you push this button on the doll’s privates, she gasps and giggles. This is not okay for a child’s toy!

“This toy needs to be removed from our stores.

“What will this toy make our innocent, impressionable children think? That it’s fun when someone touches your private area? That paedophilia and child molestation are ok? It’s not ok. It’s not fun! It’s damaging and has long term affects on a child’s mental/physical health.”

Hasbro, which is based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in the United States, responded by promising to pull the doll from shelves as soon as possible.

A spokesman for the company, Julie Duffy, issued a statement to The Providence Journal in which she apologised to parents.

She said: ‘This feature was designed to react when the doll was seated, but we recognize the placement of the sensor may be perceived as inappropriate.

“This was not intentional and we are happy to provide consumers with a replacement Poppy doll of similar value through our consumer care team.

“We are in the process of removing the item for purchase.”
