MEMBERS of the public are being asked to be vigilant after a man with a “freaky clown mask” was reportedly seen lurking in a Wordsley churchyard at the weekend.

A woman took to social media to report the strange sight which she said had left her partner, who was walking his dog, “freaked out”.

She also says she informed the police about the man who was reportedly spotted at around 6pm in the churchyard/wooded area at Holy Trinity Church off Wordsley High Street before he disappeared behind a bush.

He was said to be wearing a bright red top, black leather trousers and was also thought to be wearing make-up and was carrying a clown mask with hair attached to it.

The man was believed to have got into a silver Citroen Picasso parked in the church car park.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to reports of suspicious activity there, but there was no sign of the man when officers arrived and searched the area."

Anyone who sees anything suspicious in the area is urged to contact police on 101 or via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website.
