AN INQUEST into the tragic death of a young Stourbridge father in a workplace accident started today (Tuesday September 22).

Mitchell Pountney died at Cutting Edge Skirting in Rowley Regis, on Monday September 2, 2019.

Medics were called to the firm on Station Road at around 10.57am and found the 23-year-old had suffered multiple serious injuries.

Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the father-of-one's death started at the Black Country Coroner's Court in Oldbury today (Tuesday).

The inquest is being heard in front of a jury and is expected to last three days.

The father-of-one, from Stourbridge, was a keen Aston Villa fan.

Fans held a minute's applause as a tribute to Mitchell at a home game against West Ham shortly after his death.

The firm went on shutdown for a week after the tragic incident.
