KIDS and parents alike got their hi-vis vests on and grabbed their litter pickers to tidy up a Bromsgrove park, collecting a whopping 14kg of garbage.

Samantha Siller organised the litter pick at Sanders Park as part of the 'Source to Sea Litter Quest' litter pick.

It is a nationwide event running on beaches, river banks and parks all over the country on behalf of the Marine Conservation Society.

Samantha said: "Our little contribution helped the Marine Conservation Society identify what litter is plaguing our environment - 80% of the litter found in our ocean comes from inland.

"We collected six bags of rubbish weighing 14kg, in our socially distanced two groups of five.

"Unfortunately, amongst that were many used, discarded face masks. The most unusual item found was an old gel bike saddle!

"Thanks to the great weather we all had a great day which ended with a socially distanced picnic in the park. Thank you to everyone who helped and made a difference."
