SPURRED on by a good crowd that included a good following of Redditch supporters, United worked hard to walk away with three points at the weekend.

The team was made to work hard in the early exchanges, with Banbury having plenty of the ball, some early, corner kicks but not threatening the Redditch goal.

The fist real chance came from a free kick in the 13th minute. A foul on Redditch winger Matt Dodds. Left back Brandon Horton, who scored on Tuesday also with a free kick, hit a perfectly placed left shot towards the top right corner and cannoned off the crossbar resulting in a goalkick.

The general consensus around the ground was that it was in fact a brilliant save by Banbury goalkeeper Jack Harding.

Redditch United’s dynamic duo Tom Rankin and Kieron Day were involved in a tough battle in the centre of the park, resulting in many fouls for both teams but their tireless work offered freedom to Matt Dodds who managed to force a number of corners towards the end of the half.

Banbury started the second half much like the start of the first with Redditch having to soak up early pressure and a number of corners, forcing Redditch goalkeeper Kieron Boucher into a number of saves, but Banbury was unable to create anything clear cut.

Matt Clarke made a double substitution with Alex Cameron and Hedilberto Santos coming on in the 60th minute, and also brought on Kyle Coop for his debut in the 69th minute.

With no clear cut chances the game was looking as if it would be a stalemate but in the 83rd minute but following some good work from substitute Santos, Brandon Horton was able to pick out Jordan Clement who in turn hit a shot into the bottom right hand corner sending the Redditch fans into rapturous applause.

A number of bookings for time wasting followed, with six minutes of added on time after the 90th minute nothing of note happened and Redditch returned with all three points
