AN entire year group at Summerhill School in Kingswinford has been asked to stay at home for two weeks after a case of Covid-19 was confirmed at the school.

All students in year nine have been told to stay at home and self-isolate until Monday October 12 after a student in the year group was confirmed to have coronavirus.

A letter sent to parents, by headteacher Martyn Palfreyman, has called for all students to refrain from mixing with anyone outside of their household or attending any social gatherings to help prevent community transmission of the virus.

The school in Lodge Lane remains open as normal for all other year groups and parents have been urged to continue to send their children in as long as they are not displaying any symptoms.

Siblings of students in year nine are also expected to continue to attend school as normal - unless they have any symptoms of coronavirus such as a high temperature, a new and continuous cough and a loss or change to sense of smell or taste.
