I DID IT!

Battling rain and 40mph winds - and sporting a mammoth moustache - Halesowen man Jonny Kew has completed his John O'Groats to Land's End marathon bike ride.

The wind resistance on his huge 'tache might have been immense, but the facial hair was essential as Jonny is a huge Movember supporter, raising money and awareness of mental health issues.

But he also took on this huge challenge in memory of his grandfather Eric Purton, a keen cyclist himself, who died of prostate cancer last year.

Jonny, who was brought up in Hayley Green, went to Earls High School and King Edward VI College in Stourbridge. The ride has raised more than £3,000.

On his way through the Midlands he was supported by old school pals from Halesowen and Stourbridge.

He now lives in Richmond.

"We are very proud of him," said mum Helen Kew.

The last leg of Jonny's journey took from 4.30am to his arrival time of 6.30pm because of the conditions.

But seeing that its only just October you could say he arrived very early for a Movember challenge.
