Inspired by Captain Tom, the residents of a Clent residential home decided to complete a challenge of their own to raise funds – 2,020 laps of their main driveway.

And so far they are more than £1,500 towards their £2000 target.

Money goes towards building improvement projects at the Three Roses Homes site on Bromsgrove Road and to help pay for days out for residents.

Three Roses is a residential care home for 14 adults with learning disabilities which was established in 1972.

The home normally raises £2,000 at its annual summer fayre, but lost out this year because of the pandemic.

New projects include replacing the cracked and leaking conservatory roof and replacing the patio area which has become a dangerous trip hazard due to uneven slabs, meaning some less able residents are unable to sit outside.

The 2020 laps add to 80 miles and the aim is to raise at least £1 for each lap completed! If you can help go to www.facebook.com/threeroseshomes) or the virginmoneygiving page (virginmoneygiving.com/fund/threeroseshomes2020challenge).

Special fundraiser was four-year-old Eloise Seidel who raised £75 by completing a 20.20 mile bike ride in one day!
