AN ONLINE music event organised by an Oswestry musician raised more than £350 for the town’s foodbank.

Chris Greeve organised the event, which featured around 20 local musicians, on Facebook last month.

Each year Chris and a group of local musicians put on live performances to raise funds for the Oswestry and Borders Foodbank, and this year raised £370.

With restrictions in place because of Covid-19, the event had to take place virtually this year, but Chris was still pleased with how it went.

He said: “It went really well – we had some money come in before and after the event which was great.

“I’m extremely grateful to everyone who donated, and also to all of the musicians who took part.

“We had just short of 20 musicians who took part in the end aged between 16 and over 70, and we played from 3pm until about 9.30am.

“It was very successful, particularly because of the type of year it has been.”

Chris said a similar event may be held again in the summer, again in aid of Oswestry and Borders Foodbank.
