A WOMAN was helped free from her car by firefighters after a crash near the Park Gate pub in Wolverley near Stourbridge.

The woman was in a car which crashed with a lorry on the A451 Stourbridge Road at around 1.43pm this afternoon (Saturday December 5).

The crash was the aftermath of another crash earlier on the same road, which had caused traffic to back up.

Watch commander Chris Glover, of Stourbridge Fire Station, said: "There had already been an accident on the road, which the police dealt with and this had caused the traffic to back up.

"Then there was the second accident, which we were at.

"The woman had to be helped out of the car and only suffered minor injuries.

"The other vehicle was a seven ton flat bed lorry so the driver was fine."

Hereford and Worcester Fire Control tweeted about the incident that firefighters from Stourbridge and Bromsgrove attended.

They tweeted: "13:43 @HWFireBGrove @WMFSStourbridge have assisted @OFFICIALWMAS @WMerciaPolice to release 1 casualty trapped in vehicle following collision on A451 Stourbridge Road #Parkgate."
