A TV ghost hunter from Stourbridge has received an award for keeping people's spirits up during the coronavirus crisis.

Help! My House Is Haunted star Jayne Harris was honoured with the Coronavirus Community Spirit Award in the Higgypop 2020 Paranormal Entertainment Awards.

The award honours the person or team in the paranormal community who went above and beyond to raise spirits during the first national Covid-19 lockdown.

Paranormal investigator Jayne, who received her accolade through the post this week after being named winner during an online virtual awards event at the end of last month, was praised for her valiant efforts to keep people connected, happy and sane by hosting online pub quizzes, courses and her popular By Candlelight podcasts.

The TV presenter, who runs HD Paranormal which organises ghost hunts and spooky events which have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, started off hosting online events to stay in contact with her followers from the paranormal world.

She started out with a pub quiz, and from there things really took off and she has continued to host an array of different online events for fans of the supernatural.

Following news of her win, she thanked everyone who voted for her and she said: "I was genuinely shocked to hear I'd won the award.

"This year has been tough for so many people for various reasons, I'm so pleased that I was able to play a tiny part in keeping people entertained.

"I've received so many wonderful messages from people over the past six months telling me that the live streams and competitions have kept them connected and sane during isolation...it really makes the hard work worthwhile."
