POLICE and paramedics were alerted to a 'medical emergency' in Stourbridge's Ryemarket shopping centre.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care paramedic to the scene and a spokesman confirmed: “We were called at 1:21pm to reports of a medical emergency in Ryemarket, Stourbridge."
She said crews found a woman in a critical condition with a bystander already performing CPR and she added: "Staff took over treatment and carried out advanced life support at the scene and on route to hospital.”
The new manager at the Ryemarket, Aaron Powell, later told the News: "Our security team were called to a medical emergency incident within the lift lobby of the adjoining council operated car park after reports of a member of the public being unwell.
"Emergency first aid was administered at the scene and moments after West Midlands Ambulance Service arrived via the Market Street entrance to the shopping centre.
"Access to this area of the car park was temporarily closed before reopening shortly before 3pm."
Police also attended the incident.
No further updates have been given on the woman's condition.
