TV comic Seann Walsh is the latest big name confirmed to be appearing at Stourbridge Comedy Festival this summer.

The festival will take place throughout August and early September at the revamped Katie Fitzgerald’s in Wollaston.

It is being put on by Black Country comedy promoters Funny Beeseness, who said Walsh would be headlining a show on Saturday August 21.

Also confirmed to appear so far are Ed Byrne (Saturday August 7), Hal Cruttenden (Thursday August 12), Rhys James (Friday August 13), Shappi Khorsandi (Saturday August 14) and Simon Evans, who will close the festival topping the bill at a show on Saturday September 18.

More big names are being announced in the next couple of weeks, with comedy fans urged to sign up to the mailing list at funnybeeseness.co.uk if they want to find out first.

The shows will be taking place indoors in the new concert room at Katie’s if they are allowed to go ahead without any restrictions. If social distancing guidelines remain in place, they will move outside into a marquee as per the arrangements for shows last year.

Walsh will be supported by two acts who have recently made their TV debuts on Mock The Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats respectively - one-liner comic Mark Simmons and the baby-faced Josh Jones.

Dudley's Wayne Beese, director of Funny Beeseness, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Seann, who is one of our absolute favourite live acts, will be joining us for the festival in August.

“He is a brilliant observational comic and the fact he is being supported by two of the fastest rising stars on the circuit means this triple headline bill really could be the pick of the shows for the festival.

“We are announcing new shows every Friday and Monday evening to our mailing list over the next couple of weeks.”
