Labour have lost their historically safe Beacon seat on Worcestershire County Council.
Conservative councillor Adrian Kriss has been returned with 1,465 votes closely followed by Bromsgrove Labour leader Peter McDonald with 1,346 votes.
Cllr Kriss said: “I am excited to be given this opportunity to take over Beacon, as its seen 25 years of a labour councillor. I want to make Beacon a gateway for Worcestershire as I feel it has been left out and is the forgotten part of Bromsgrove.”
In another shock at the polls, the Lib Dem party have gained the Tory Bromsgrove Central seat with Joshua Robinson taking over.
Alvechurch has now been taken back under Conservative control after losing the seat in 2017 to Independent candidate Charlie Hotham.
Aled Luckman, aged 21 won the seat with 1,424 votes. He said he one of his first things is to get smart water across the area and tackle speeding.
Labour councillor Luke Mallet is now the only representative from the party for Bromsgrove district on the county council.
He comfortably retained his Bromsgrove West seat with 1,703 votes.
The Conservatives retained the remaining seats left for Bromsgrove on the county council.
Overall, the party have gained two seats and lost one.
Councillor Adam Kent for Wythall told The Advertiser that he will be introducing a new street watch scheme which is a first in Worcestershire. He said: “I want to get residents involved int eh response to anti-social behaviour concerns. I also will carry on speaking to residents and tackling issues such as travel around Bromsgrove and speeding.
"A big emphasises will also be placed on delivering affordable housing and looking after young people.”
Conservative County Councillor for Clent Hills, Karen May said on behalf of her party: “We are very humble, very relived and very ecstatic! We as a party never take anything for granted and its clear the public have been very well informed.
“We have worked together and with the electorate to get these results. We just want to say a massive thank you!”
