CrossFit Wyre Forest is pumped and ready to welcome back fitness fanatics to CrossFit classes.

The gym on Bewdley business park managed to retain members through lockdown by organising zoom workouts and lending equipment out to members.

Husband and wife, Phil and Becks Oliver, who own and manage the gym say they are looking forward to having everything back to normal.

Becks said: “We have retained a lot of our members and gained a few over lockdown. Phil was doing online zoom classes in lockdown and doing a workout a day for people and was also giving nutrition advice and mental health support to keep everyone motivated and afloat. We also lent out all our kit to members in lockdown, but for those who did not have equipment we did non- equipment specified workouts.

“At the minute in line with the current Covid guidelines, each member has their own training bay with all the equipment they need for the WOD (workout) plus hand sanitizer stations, booking and payment options all operated online with a maximum 12 members per class to allow for social distancing.

“From April 12 Phil has just been doing one to one coaching but from May 17 all of our classes will come back such as barbell, gymnastics and mobility. We are so excited to have our gym back to normal!”

Becks aged 45, left her job three years ago to run CrossFit Wyre Forest with Phil, aged 48 who has always been involved in the industry.

Becks added: “During the most recent lockdown 52 members took part in the online CrossFit Games Open 2021 held every year as a worldwide competition. It involves taking part in 3 workouts and submitting scores allowing CrossFit athletes from around the world to qualify their performance and rank themselves on a worldwide scoreboard. One of our coaches Karen Simmonds who was entered in the 55-59yrs category finished 275th in the world, 28th in Europe and 6th in the UK which qualifies her to progress to the next round, the quarter finals.”

CrossFit Wyre Forest has been open for 13 years and was only one of five CrossFit gyms in the UK.
