A MAN from Lye is among five arrested by officers from the National Crime Agency and charged with firearms offences.

Five men were arrested on Tuesday May 13 after NCA officers from the agency’s Armed Operations Unit stopped a car in Muirfield Gardens in the Kings Norton area of Birmingham.

Callum Meah, aged 24, from Shepherds Brook Road, Lye, Stourbridge, was among those arrested after a handgun and ammunition were recovered by officers who carried out searches at addresses in Stourbridge, Rubery, Northfield and Longbridge.

Carl Brookes, aged 36, of Dearmont Road, Northfield, Birmingham, Richard Davies, aged 34, of Jubilee Road, Rednal, Jordan Feeney, aged 27, of Roundlea Road, Birmingham, and Robert Clark, aged 30, formerly of Cheverton Road, Northfield, were also arrested.

All have been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of prohibited ammunition, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Clark has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon/bladed article after officers discovered a knife on his person when he was arrested.

All five have been remanded in custody until their June 16 when they are due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court.
