KIDDERMINSTER’S strongest man competition is set to go ahead next Saturday (June 26) following the cancellation of two competitions due to the Covid pandemic.
The fitness contest will be based on the courtyard of Flexible Fitness Gym on Dixon Street, where spectators are encouraged to cheer on the athletes.
A dozen fitness fanatics will be competing to win the title, taking part in five events which include log lift, front hold, and atlas stone for reps.
Mark Crosby, owner of Flexible Fitness Gym said: "We are trying to build this competition up and this upcoming competition is acting as a stepping stone for bigger projects.
"We are hoping to hold a bigger scale competition next year at the rugby club with the support of a celebrity guest.
"At Saturday's competition we will have a food van and hoping to have a lot of spectators, which can watch for free, supporting the guys."
Chris Wolf, who has achieved second place and third place in the World's Strongest Disabled Man competition, will be refereeing the event.
He said: "I will be competing at Britain's Strongest Disabled Man in September and then at Arnold Sports Festival at the NEC in Birmingham in October, which is the largest health and fitness festival in the world.'
The title holder of Kidderminster Strongest Man will win a trophy, with every competitor receiving a T-shirt for participation.
