VACCINATION sites across the Black Country are throwing their doors open to all adults as part of the national “Big Walk-in Weekend”.
Anyone aged 18 or over is being urged to attend the walk-in sessions taking place from June 25 to June 27, with no appointments necessary.
Sally Roberts, chief nurse for Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “With all adults now invited to receive their first vaccination, we’re encouraging anyone aged 18 and over who hasn’t had their first dose yet to visit one of our walk-in vaccination sites this weekend.
“We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to get their jab as quickly as possible, and our walk-in sites are perfect for those who want to drop in for their vaccine at a time that suits them.
“We have plenty of staff and plenty of vaccines for everybody, so please come on down.”
People aged 40 and over who had their first dose of the vaccine over eight weeks ago will also be able to get their second dose this weekend.
Sally added: “If you’re over the age of 40 and eligible to receive your second jab, please come and see us.
"Getting both doses of the lifesaving vaccine is the most important step we can take to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our communities against COVID-19.”
A vaccine bus is in Moor Street centre carpark in Brierley Hill on June 25 from 12pm to 8pm and June 26 from 9am to 5pm.
Vaccines are available on the van to any adult who is yet to receive their first vaccine.
Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care at Dudley Council, said: "I would urge anyone not yet vaccinated who lives in the area to take advantage of these walk-in appointments.
"Getting vaccinated is one of the most important yet simple things we can do to protect our own health as well as our friends, relatives and communities.
"We know vaccines are extremely safe and, as they are our best way to continue on the government’s road map to normal life, we need every adult old and young to get theirs now."
A number of other locations across the borough are offering walk in appointments for over 18s to get their first or second vaccine.
This includes Tipton Sports Academy, where vaccines are offered from 8am to 6pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Drop-in appointments are also available at Chapel Street Community Centre in Lye on June 30 1pm to 5pm and at Halesowen Cultural Centre on Highfield Lane, every Thursday until July 8 from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
