BLACK Country rock band WEAK13 have released a commemorative mug to celebrate Black Country Day.

The award-winning band, who won 'best music video' for their song Closure at the Black Country Music Awards, said they felt it was time to make their love for the area more blatantly official.

WEAK13 bassist Wesley Smith said: "I was born in the Black Country and wanted to make sure that we showed our respect for the area on Black Country Day; it's more important to me than Christmas Day.

"I know our singer and guitarist Nick J Townsend might occasionally write the odd lyric whilst he's doing his annual Hollywood visits but all the music for WEAK13 is crafted right here in the Black Country; every riff and every song gets forged here; we rehearse and write these tunes in the Black Country and it's our home."

Artwork for the mug was created by acclaimed artist Andy Meanock who had previously done work for Dc Thomson (The Beano) Templar publishing ,The 77 comic and also once gave a caricature to Bruce Dickenson of Iron Maiden.

More information about the mugs will be available from Facebook.com/weak13fanpage and all mugs come with a free goodies

Wesley will be on Black Country Radio Xrtra taking to presenter Jason Kelly on July 14 at 9pm for Black Country Day and will be discussing the recording of the band's new double album scheduled for release in 2022.
