SPORTY Dudley councillors will be taking on officers from the council at the Mayor's annual cricket match this month.

The event will take place from 6pm on July 30 at the War Memorial Ground in High Street, Amblecote, Stourbridge.

Both teams will be raising money for the Mayor of Dudley’s charities - the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Dudley Mind and the Mayor’s community fund.

Councillor Anne Millward, Mayor of Dudley, said: "The annual cricket match is always a lot of fun and raises much needed funds for charity at the same time.

"I’m so grateful to Stourbridge Cricket Club and the players for giving up their time to raise money.

"Members of the public are most welcome to come along and watch the game and help support the charities too."

The teams will play a 20 overs-a-side match and there will be a raffle after the game.

Lye councillor Mohammed Hanif organises the annual game which raises hundreds of pounds for charities but has suffered setbacks because of the pandemic.

Stourbridge Cricket Club provide the ground and facilities for free.
