A NEWLY elected Kingswinford councillor has teamed up with the area's new police sergeant to launch a youth club.

Kingswinford North and Wall Heath councillor and community campaigner Shaz Saleem has joined forces with Sergeant Imran Mohammed to unveil the KNWH Youth Club.

The club will be officially opened on Friday, July 23, at The Source Centre, Barnett Lane, Wordsley, and will be available for free to young people of all ages and areas from 6pm-8pm on Fridays.

It has been boosted by funding from Dudley Council for Voluntary Services and has been given backing by Dudley South MP Mike Wood.

Mr Wood said: "This is an excellent idea and will give our youths a much-needed home where they can take part in many activities.

"I congratulate Shaz and his team and will fully support the project."

Shaz added: "I have always felt many youngsters simply lack direction, with our youth club we intend to get our youngsters off the streets and to identify their potential so we can find a career path for them.

"Since I announced the intention to run a youth club we have had so many people reach out, some from different organisations such as All Stars and Kewford Eagles.

"We have had amazing support from Nicky Burrows at Dudley CVS - Imran has been amazing and we share the same vision for our community."
