KIDS can keep cool this summer holiday with free swimming sessions at borough leisure centres.

Youngsters aged 16 and under who live in the Dudley borough can take the plunge at centres in Dudley and Halesowen now - and at Stourbridge's Crystal Leisure Centre when its pool reopens next month.

The offer runs throughout the entirety of the school holidays.

And the council is also providing family fun sessions for children with disabilities and special educational needs every Thursday from 3pm-4pm and every Friday from 3.15pm-4.30pm at Halesowen Leisure Centre.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "As a council we are very keen to promote initiatives that encourage children in our borough to stay fit, active and healthy.

"I am also really pleased we are making separate provision for the first time for children with disabilities and special educational needs.

"Parents asked us to do this, and as a listening council, we have made it happen."
