FAMILIES can explore the great outdoors in a series of events being laid on at Dudley borough nature reserves this summer.

At Fens Pool Local Nature Reserve, Brierley Hill, families can join in minibeast hunts on July 28 and on August 4 from 2pm to 3.30pm.

On August 6 and 17, people are invited to join in a family bike ride, taking in the sites from Dudley's Barrow Hill and along the old railway track.

The rides start at midday and people are advised to bring a packed lunch.

The reserve will also host photography walks on August 14 and 20 from 11am to 1pm and a stone painting session on August 18 from 11am to noon.

For all activities people should meet at the warden’s base.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, Dudley Council's cabinet member for public realm, said: "Our nature reserves have been a sanctuary to many over the course of the pandemic but it’s lovely to have some organised events for children and families to enjoy this summer in a safe outdoor environment.

"All of these sessions are a great way for youngsters to learn more about nature and our surroundings and why our nature reserves are such special spaces."

Booking in advance for all activities is essential as places are limited.
