NOW back open after the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, Claptrap The Venue in Stourbridge is hosting a new midweek event for people who enjoy good music and good chat.

People are invited to switch off from the pressures of the day and meet like-minded souls at the first Social Sound event to be held at the High Street venue tonight (Thursday August 6).

Stourbridge DJ Mr Trim will be hosting tonight's event from 7pm until late and it's set to become a regular Thursday night out, with special guest DJs lined up for future events.

Mr Trim said: "It's something completely different to the usual midweek outings.

"Social Sound was originally a radio show, and still is, for an online station called www.CrateDigs.com that was born out of boredom during the first lockdown period.

"It has since developed into an online community with regular listeners from USA, Europe and all round the UK.

"Both the radio show and the live event are specifically focussed on good music and good chat, bringing approachable, leftfield music - so anything from jazz, to ambient, to drum n bass, to world music - while maintaining an unpretentious and inclusive attitude.

"It is a like-minded community and a place for people to switch off from the pressures of the day-to-day. Our only rules are 'no current affairs, no politics and no bad vibes'."

Admission is £5 on the door.
