CHARITIES are set to be bowled over by the generosity of Dudley Council staff and councillors after they raised more than £700 from a cricket match.

A team of officers from the authority took on a team of elected members at the War Memorial Ground in High Street, Amblecote, last week.

The game was won by officers and both teams managed to raise just over £700 during the night.

The money will be split between the Mayor of Dudley’s charities - the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Dudley Mind and the Mayor’s community fund.

Councillor Anne Millward, Mayor of Dudley, said: "The evening was a lot of fun and I am delighted we could hold this game again after such a difficult year.

"I’m extremely grateful to everyone who supported the game and helped raise this total for charity."

Stourbridge Cricket Club hosted the game which was organised by former Mayor, Councillor Mohammed Hanif.
