ALL of Stourbridge's BP garages were out of fuel today, with no certainty as to when the next deliveries will arrive.
BP garages on the ring road (St John's Road), Norton Road and Hagley Road in Oldswinford had no diesel or petrol and no confirmation of when the next deliveries were due.
People have been taking to social media to report their lucky finds with some reporting they had no problem filling up at other garages and others struggling to get what they needed.
Stourbridge based courier Dave Colley, who drives across the country for work, put a plea for information out on Facebook after struggling to find diesel to keep him on the road and in business.
Luckily today he told the News he'd managed to fill up both of his vans - having got lucky at Sainsbury's at Amblecote but the petrol station next to the supermarket had run out of both diesel and petrol by 5.30pm.
He said: "If I can't fill the van up I can't take any jobs as I've got to make sure I can get back. It's been a bit of a hunt to find fuel."
Meanwhile, Stourbridge business boss Michael Morgan, who also works as cabin crew for a major airline, told how he visited 14 petrol stations yesterday before managing to fill up with diesel at Sainsbury's Amblecote late last night.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said the situation had not caused any disruption to the borough's vital services and he added: "I would like to reassure residents that we have contingency plans in place to ensure essential services could still be delivered if we face shortages.”
Stourbridge's MP Suzanne Webb said the crisis has not been the result of a shortage of petrol and diesel and she added: "There’s plenty at the refineries and enough drivers to deliver to the vast majority of filling stations.
"The only shortage has been of common sense and I hope everyone now understands how counterproductive it is to panic buy."
