STOURBRIDGE MP Suzanne Webb has presented a cheque for more than £1,300 to Dudley Mind after it was raised by Stourbridge FC under 12 players who ran more than 250km over the summer.

Suzanne was invited to the club on Juniors Day when more than 200 junior players did a well-deserved lap of honour at the War Memorial Ground in recognition of their efforts.

The cheque was presented to Dudley Mind’s chief executive Sandra Vaughan at half time during the senior game between Stourbridge and Needham Market that ended 1-1.

As a small, independent charity, Dudley Mind which is based at The Mind Hub at Bushey Fields Hospital, relies on local support to provide services to those in need.

Suzanne said: “It was an honour to present this cheque and I would like to thank all those young players who spent June and July running to raise this stunning total for such a deserving local charity.

“They're a superb group of boys and also families who have worked really hard to meet this 250km challenge so others can benefit from having mental health peer support and volunteers in our local community at times like this.

“It was a fab day to be involved in and a celebration of the success of a club that is building a strong football family.”

U12 players were given a medal on behalf of the club to commemorate their efforts for the charity run.
