THE leisure pool at Stourbridge's Crystal Leisure Centre remains closed but council leisure chiefs have insisted they are working to re-open it as soon as possible.

News surfaced at the weekend that the recently revamped fun pool at the Bell Street centre had been left high and dry with the water having drained away.

Dudley Council's leisure bosses have since confirmed an issue with a water filter was to blame for the closure of the pool which happened just as youngsters had broken up for the autumn half term.

The pool remained out of action today (Monday October 25) but the council stressed it would re-open soon.

Councillor Simon Phipps, the authority's cabinet member responsible for leisure centres, said: "We can assure customers we are working to re -open it as soon as possible and apologise for the inconvenience. Please keep an eye on our website for updates.”

The centre's 25-metre pool remains open as usual.
