He has been charged
A SERVING West Midlands Police officer has been charged with an historical child sex offence.
Student officer PC Joseph Powell is due to appear at court charged with assaulting a child under 13 by touching between 2009 and 2011.
He is also charged with unauthorised access to information on a police computer.
Powell will appear at Coventry Magistrates Court on November 10.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said he has been suspended since his arrest on 6 August last year while the matter was investigated.
