A STOURBRIDGE man has raised hundreds of pounds to help beat breast cancer after his partner was diagnosed with the disease, aged just 35.

Sadie Lissaman received the shocking diagnosis in August after going to the doctor for pains in her chest.

Her partner Dean Chilcott decided to channel his shock into a fundraising drive to raise money for charity Breast Cancer Now, and his Go Fund Me page has already raised £930, almost reaching its target of £1000.

He is set to climb Ben Nevis, Snowdonia and Scafell Pike next year in a further drive to raise funds.

Brave Sadie has undergone surgery and last week began chemotherapy. She will then have to have radiotherapy followed by hormone therapy.

Dean, aged 31, said: "She had a pain in one of her breasts so went to the doctor who found a lump at the back, towards the verge of the muscle which you wouldn't be able to feel normally.

"She was sent for a mammogram and was diagnosed with cancer.

"It literally came out the blue. She's fit and healthy, it was a massive shock. It was just awful."

The couple have been together for ten years and have a two-year-old daughter called Maisie.

Thankfully Sadie's cancer was found early and now she is focussing on her treatment and its side effects.

Dean is now training for his challenges, which will see him climb Snowdonia in April, Scafell Pike in May followed by the the biggest, Ben Nevis, in June.

He added: "I'm not an activity kind of guy, I'm more than happy to sit and home and watch football. It's going to be a challenge."

"I want to raise awareness, if you have a pain or a lump, do speak to your doctor."
